Flag design contest invites residents to celebrate accessibility in Milton

The Town of Milton is launching a flag design contest which encourages residents to submit a flag design to celebrate National AccessAbility Week (NAAW), recognized May 31 to June 6, 2020. The flag design contest is part of the Town of Milton’s commitment to recognize the efforts of members of the community who are actively removing barriers and ensuring persons with disabilities have an equal chance to participate in all aspects of Canadian society.

How to enter

Residents of all ages are invited to celebrate accessibility through the submission of artwork that represents inclusion, equality and accessibility in Milton. Submissions for entry will be accepted until May 17, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. with winners contacted on May 19. Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Originality and design quality

  • Ability of design to communicate one or more of the following: leadership, inclusivity, kindness, acceptance, diversity, bias-free environments, respect and positive engagement

Prizing details

One winner will be selected. The winning submission will be made into a flag. Mayor Krantz will raise the flag while making a Proclamation at Town Hall during National AccessAbility Week on June 1. In addition, the winner will receive a copy of the flag, along with a $100 gift card.
