Mauritius cyber security awareness

February 12, 2020: At the opening of a workshop, held as part of the Safer Internet Day 2020 this morning at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tower in Ebène, the Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr. Darsanand Balgobin, announced that February 2020 has been designated as cybersecurity month,in line with the government's vision to empower people to use technology in ways that are respectful, adequate and safe.



 



With this in mind, several activities are on the program, including a workshop next week for children with disabilities from 70 schools with special educational needs, and a cybersecurity exercise on February 27 and 28 for officials working in the field of technology. and information.



 



The minister also encouraged all citizens to fully use the online platform, the Mauritian Cybercrime Online Reporting System (MAUCORS), to report cases of cybercrime.  To date, more than 1,600 cases of cybercrime have been reported and resolved on this national system instituted in 2018.
